High Mountain Inspection began operation in 1985, by the late Bill Fraser. Starting with only two fully equipped x-ray units doing general pipeline inspections, the company grew to six (6) x-ray units within eighteen (18) months. One of HMI’s first projects was the inspection of the missile silos at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming before the missiles were installed.
HMI is constantly improving its customer service by providing timely training and up to date certifications. When new hires begin work in the field, on the job training is provided by a level II technician, supervisor and their two-man crew. HMI employees are required to complete industry training in the form of eight hours annual radiation safety refresher. All level II Technicians are required to obtain and maintain state certifications from an approved IRRSP testing facility. HMI employees are certified by NCCER and Veriforce, the records are maintained in compliance with DOT 49 CFR. HMI operates under a U S Nuclear Regulatory Commission License.
Periodically, HMI replaces or upgrades their twenty-five (25) fully equipped, ¾ and 1 ton x-ray units with attached darkrooms, and their six (6) crawler devices. HMI’s crawler department is said to be one of the largest in the United States. HMI also has three (3) ATV’s which makes traveling on project right of way easier and safer. We have fully-equipped mobile darkroom trailers for the purpose of ASME and fabrication and large crawler jobs to be left on location until the completion of the project.
HMI practices ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) safety measures. At HMI safety is our number one priority. The goal of all management and employees at HMI is to provide a quality service to their clients, and to do so with integrity and honesty. “We will always have that thought in our minds, to strive to do a better job tomorrow than we did yesterday. We believe that the outlook for the future is bright!” states Suzanne Fraser.
High Mountain Inspection has supplied services to pipeline projects, gas plants, refineries, petro-chemical plants, power plants, and ASME shops. We have provided radiographic services for PacificCorp (Scottish Power); which includes Dave Johnson Power Plant and Jim Bridger Power plant. We have also maintained Frontier Refinery in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Sinclair Refinery in Sinclair, and Casper, Wyoming.
